“For Yara, the sponsorship wasn't just help — it was the feeling that someone stands beside her and cares about her future. Thank you to everyone who helped her continue her life and her dreams.”

In the Gaza Strip, twelve-year-old Yara Ahmed lives with her mother and siblings. Her life changed after she lost her father — and his absence wasn’t only an emotional void in the home, but the loss of the person who carried a large part of the family’s responsibilities and gave it a measure of stability. Since then, her mother has found herself solely responsible for caring for Yara and her siblings and securing their daily needs amid difficult living and humanitarian conditions.
Over time, the simplest details came to require careful thought. Household expenses, the children’s needs, school, clothing — even things that once seemed ordinary — were no longer as easy as before. Yara saw all of this and understood, despite her young age, that her mother was trying to make a little be enough for everyone. Even so, school remained an important space in her life, and she held on to the idea of continuing her education and achieving what she dreamed of.
But desire alone wasn’t enough. The cost of educational needs and the pressure of daily living made continuing her schooling a real source of worry within the family. Over time, the question became clear: could Yara continue her education while the family was already struggling to secure its basic needs?

This is where the Orphan Sponsorship Project came in. Yara received support that helped her family cover part of her basic and educational needs, and gave her mother more room to handle the household’s burdens without Yara’s schooling becoming the first thing to be given up. For Yara, the sponsorship wasn’t just a sum of money, but a means that restored some balance to her daily life and let her focus more on her studies instead of being preoccupied with what the family lacked each day.

Her mother says:

“For Yara, the sponsorship wasn’t just help — it was the feeling that someone stands beside her and cares about her future. Thank you to everyone who helped her continue her life and her dreams.”

That is exactly what made the difference. Sponsorship doesn’t change what happened, and it doesn’t bring Yara’s father back, but it helps prevent another loss: that she not lose her education because of circumstances, and that her need not become an added burden on her mother.

Today, Yara continues her education in Gaza and holds on to her dreams for the future. Not all the difficulties her family faces have ended; but the support provided an important opportunity for Yara to continue her schooling and go on with her daily life more securely.
Support the Orphan Sponsorship Project, and contribute to a child’s education and future.
