Leyan and the Eid Dress That Brought Back Her Smile

“The moment I first saw my Eid dress, I was overjoyed. Thank you to everyone who let me feel the joy of Eid like other children.”

Nine-year-old Leyan waited for Eid every year with a special kind of joy. For her, Eid began before the day itself — when she talked about new clothes, imagined the dress she would wear, and counted the days until the morning she would go out with her family, feeling that this day was different from all the others.
But this year, everything was harder.
Her family was going through circumstances that pushed basic expenses ahead of everything else. Food, daily needs, and household essentials became priorities that couldn’t wait, while Eid clothes could easily slip to the bottom of the list.

Leyan understood this without anyone explaining it. She noticed how busy her parents were and saw how every expense now needed careful thought, so she stopped asking about an Eid dress the way she used to. She didn’t ask for anything, and didn’t repeat her wish — but inside, she kept waiting for something simple: to live the morning of Eid like other children.

Then the Eid clothing reached her family.

When Leyan opened the gift and saw her new dress, joy appeared on her face at once. She took it to her mother, put it on, and stood looking at it with a happiness that needed no explanation. For her family, it wasn’t just a new piece of clothing; it was a moment in which their child could forget, even a little, all that circumstances had imposed on their home.

On the morning of Eid, Leyan went out in her new dress and her brightest smile. For her parents, that moment mattered more than the value of the gift itself, because what truly made them happy was that their daughter lived a day like the one she had waited for every year.
Leyan says:

“The moment I first saw my Eid dress, I was overjoyed. Thank you to everyone who let me feel the joy of Eid like other children.”

That is what the clothing meant to her. It didn’t change the family’s circumstances, but it brought back to Eid something that had been missing: the joy of a child who felt that Eid had reached her too. Clothing may be simple in value, but its impact on a child waiting eagerly for Eid is great.

Help clothe a child, and make Eid brighter for another child.
